Internal Control: Its importance in the Prevention of Corruption and Corporate Fraud in Chile

Claudio Feller, partner and leader of the criminal and white collar department of GQM, wrote the Chilean chapter in a global comparative analysis on Corporate Fraud and Corruption published by Financier Worldwide.

In the text, Claudio refers to the recent increase in cases of corruption and corporate fraud has made clear the relevance of incorporating crime prevention and compliance models within a company, as well as the importance of instilling a culture of good internal corporate practice. He affirms that it is essential to have a prevention model, led by a highly qualified compliance officer that is independent from the organs of company management, including owners and directors, so to guarantee autonomy in the prevention of crimes and promote the perfecting of the model.
